St. Lucy, Patron Saint of the Blind. Committed to virginity and Christianity, when a suitor once admired her eyes, Lucy tore them out and gave them to him. God rewarded her sacrifice by giving her a new pair, but in the end she was unfortunately stabbed in the throat, and is considered a martyr.
